Training that will develop your knowledge in applying Cognitive Functional Therapy (CFT) to people with chronic low back pain, promote understanding of the multidimensional nature of pain, and strengthen your ability to address these aspects during therapy, strengthening individuals' self-care and self-management skills to achieve their goals.  

Although this therapy method has proven to be very effective for people with chronic pain, it works equally well for acute and subacute conditions, as it incorporates all aspects of quality care, including a person-centered approach and a bio-psycho-social approach. 

Together with Evoolve Pain Care Academy, we are the only course providers in the Baltic States to offer an exclusive hybrid format CFT Tier 1 – KNOWLEDGE course.

The course will be led by Evoolove-certified CFT instructor Prof. Wim Dankaerts, PhD, MSK PT

Wim is an MSK physiotherapist, researcher and lecturer who is particularly interested in the integration of multidimensional clinical thinking and person-centered communication into the work of physiotherapists to improve self-care for patients with long-term musculoskeletal pain disorders.

DAY 1 Online. It is essential to comlpete ‘day 1’ content prior to the first in-person day

"Day 1" begins 2 weeks before the first in-person day, when Evoolve Pain Care Academy sends you access to the online materials.

Before the first face-to-face session, watch the 5-hour lectures led by Prof. Peter O'Sullivan and Dr. JP Caneiro (Evထlve certified CFT trainers, Evoolve directors) on the multidimensional nature of back pain and cognitive functional therapy.

At the end of the day, you will complete 4 online tests.

DAY 2, in person

Friday, May 22, 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. EET

You will observe Cognitive Functional Therapy consultations, including patient stories (interviews), physical examinations, and treatment plans from the first consultation to the end of therapy.

You will discuss clinical reasoning with colleagues and Prof. Wim Dankaerts (Evထlve certified CFT trainer). A reflection exercise will be conducted. Discussion with the instructor and colleagues, group work.

Learn about the multidimensional linical reasoning system of Cognitive Functional Therapy. 

DAY 3, in person

Saturday, May 23, 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. EET

You will watch a more complex example of Cognitive Functional Therapy consultation from the first consultation to the end of therapy.

You will complete the multidimensional clinical reasoning framework of cognitive functional therapy.

Discuss clinical judgment with colleagues and Prof. Wim Dankaerts (Evထlve certified CFT trainer). A reflection exercise will be conducted. Discussion with the instructor and colleagues, group work.

Learn about studies that confirm the effectiveness of CFT.

You will gain an understanding of the training path to become an Evထlve certified CFT practitioner.

After the course:

You will receive access to the remaining part of the course and CFT consultation videos online.

You will complete the remaining online course.

You will be able to review the content as needed.

After successfully passing the final test, you will receive an Evထlve certificate for basic knowledge of CFT.

Important information:

The content of the hybrid course is identical to the Tier 1 online course "KNOWLEDGE" with additional interactive activities related to online patient cases led by an Evoolve-certified CFT trainer.

It is important that registered participants complete the online "first day" content before the first face-to-face day (i.e., the second day of training). Please ensure that you have enough time to watch approximately 5 hours of video content. The online "first day" content is considered basic knowledge for the rest of the course. 

Registered participants will receive a registration email from Evoolve Pain Care Academy two weeks before the first in-person day.
