Requirements for abstract submission 

  1. General requirements
  • Abstracts must be submitted electronically via the submission platform.
  • Language of abstracts and presentation: English.
  • All authors must be informed of the submission and its status.
  • The first author of the abstract must attend the conference in person.
  • Maximum word count: 300 words
  • No images, tables or graphs are permitted in the text of the abstract.
  • References are not required.

 

  1. Structure of the abstract

All abstracts submitted must contain the following sections:

Background

Context and significance of the research in physiotherapy practice or science. A clear justification must be provided as to why the research question is relevant and important.

Purpose / Aim

Primary and secondary research objectives or tasks. These should be formulated specifically and clearly.

Methods

Methodology, study design, participants, interventions and instruments used. Must be sufficiently detailed to assess the rigour of the study.

Results

Key findings with specific data. Unfinished studies without results will NOT be accepted. The date of completion of the study must be stated.

Conclusions

Key conclusions and their significance. Conclusions must be consistent with the stated objectives and the results obtained.

Implications

How the work influences physiotherapy practice, education or policy in the Baltic region and internationally. This section enhances the international standing of the work.

 

  1. Acceptable and unacceptable thesis topics

Thesis topics should be related to conference theme: chronic pain management, neuroplasticity, spine-related limb pain and evidence-based approaches that enhance patient outcomes and professional practice.

  • Physiotherapy in neurology
  • Cardiopulmonary physiotherapy
  • Paediatric physiotherapy
  • Physiotherapy in geriatrics
  • Women’s health
  • Sports physiotherapy
  • Physiotherapist training, policy issues
  • Other topics

✓ Acceptable

  • Original research (RCTs, pilot studies, cohort studies, case-control studies)
  • Systematic reviews and meta-analyses 
  • Scoping reviews and narrative reviews 
  • Clinical case reports
  • Descriptions of innovative clinical practices, innovative methods or technologies in physiotherapy
  • Current issues in education, practice organisation and policy in physiotherapy
 

✗ Not accepted

  • Unfinished studies without final results
  • Research protocols without data
  • Commercial content 
  • Papers without ethical approval (where required)
  1. Possible presentation formats

Oral Presentation – for abstracts of high scientific and clinical value. Presentation time: 7 minutes + 3 minutes for discussion. 

Poster / E-poster – the presenter spends 5 minutes introducing the work during a group discussion in front of an electronically displayed poster. 

Important: The submitter may indicate their preferred format, but the Scientific Committee will make the final decision on the format to be allocated. If there are more requests for platform presentations than planned, submitters may be offered the poster format.

  1. Information to be submitted

The following information must be provided during the submission process:

  1. Title – a title no longer than 20 words. The title must concisely reflect the content of the study. 
  2. Authors and affiliated institutions – all authors must be listed by first name, surname, title and place of employment. 
  3. Abstract – The text of the abstract (max. 400 words). The structure set out in Section 6 must be followed  (see Section 2). The word count includes the entire text, excluding the title and list of authors.
  4. Keywords – Select keywords that reflect the main theme and facilitate searching.
  5. Presentation format – specify your preferred format: oral presentation or poster/e-poster. 
  6. Funding statement – please specify the source of funding or tick ‘No funding’.
  7. Ethics approval information – if ethics approval has been obtained for the research: please specify the institution, committee and approval number. If ethics approval is not required – please state the reason.
  8. Selection and awarding of the best abstracts

The best papers presented at the conference will receive awards. The number of awards depends on the quantity and quality of the papers submitted.

Recommendations for a high-quality abstract

Before submission: read all the guidelines carefully and ensure that your thesis meets all the requirements.

Use the specified sections: and ensure that each section is logically linked to the others.

Conclusions must be derived from the results obtained.

Submit only completed research: - research protocols and unfinished work without results will not be accepted.

  1. Communication and assistance

Communication takes place solely with the person who submitted the paper (the corresponding author). The corresponding author is responsible for informing all other authors of the paper’s status.
